I hope the holiday season has been filled with all the good stuff- food, family, friends and loads of fun!
I know mine was… as well as bustling busy! Which is why Im posting this for registration of art classes starting in 2 weeks.
So it looks like the best time to have the course is Sunday, January 15th evening starting at 6:30-8:30ish, if people need to stay a bit longer to finish, thats ok. Also, we can look at having 2 classes depending on the number of people, so if for some reason you have a preference please tell me.
Each class you will explore a different medium with the necessary tools and materials supplied by me at the studio.
The course out line would follow along the lines of this:
week 1- feather hair piece, pinch clip or earrings. I have over 100 different kinds of feathers to play with and many many accessories to complement the feathers. Its a delicate, intricate skill but once you figure it out, so much opens up for you to explore!
week 2- leather bracelets, cuffs or earrings. Right now leather earrings are big, I source recycled and off cut leather so my impact is positive and the selection is very interesting. Leather lasts a long time and changes as you wear it, its one of my favorites because you get to know it the more you use it.
week 3- wire rings and accents. There is a lot that can be done with wire, most people dont use it very often but I really appreciate it because it holds its form and you learn a lot about for thought, planning and process while creating something.
week 4- resin embedding. Playing with setting, reflections, tinting, and suspending pretty much anything we want. This is a really wild and interesting medium.
week 5- found metal manipulation and/or tailsmen necklace. I prefer this session to be near the end because it might take a bit of thought or collection. Although I have a CRAZY amount of supplies, there is probably something in your jewelery box that you dont wear often or is broken and you dont throw it away because you like it and want to use it. This class is great for combining purpose and beauty, the exploration of the meaning we put to a material thing. The creation of something important out of something that may have been less that useful as well. You might surprise yourself in what you make.
week 6- beading and buttons. A bit of classic crafting and jewelry to explore. I have a few twists on the regular ideas and some neat concepts to play with. If needed this class can be used to finish the tailsmen as well or perhaps play around with something that comes up during the course.
The course is 6 weeks @ $125+%12 hst.
I will supply all the materials, minus anything you personally would like to work on to add to the class, but otherwise you will not need to bring anything and each night you will walk away with something special you can wear. This is good value.
You can bring a beverage and snacks if you like, the space is large and comfortable. It may be that we have enough people to do 2 classes, if so I think the Monday night would work as well. Probably the same time, 6:30-8:30ish.
I can accept cheques, email transfers, cash or paypal.
I will need to know how many people will be attending in advance to coordinate supplies.
If for some reason you will be away or are only able to commit to part of the course and would still really like to come I am offering class single registration for $25+%12 hst per evening. This as well I will need to know in advance for obvious reasons!
I will be away till the 10th of January, but still have email contact, so anything you need to know fire away!
YAY! this is going to be a really fun course, I look forward to creating with all of you. What a great way to start the new year!~
take care and happy new year!!
